This book about the woodblock prints of Shotei from the Folk Museum of Ota City (the same museum that published the much hearlded and sold out Shotei catalog of 2005) will be a very welcome addition to any 20th century Japanese woodblock print reference library. This new catalog is hardbound with dustjacket, and has better quality larger illustrations than the earlier Shotei catalog, and contains a well-written introduction translated into English by curator Hisao Shimizu. Captions for the 120 prints illustrated are also bilingual. Today Shotei's prints are highly sought by collectors of Japanese Woodblock prints and often appear at auctions on eBay and elsewhere.
